Glyceryl Stearate SE is an all-natural, non-comedogenic emulsifier used for skincare and hair care formulas. This product is self-emulsifying, meaning when blended with water it does not separate. The SE indicates a small amount of potassium stearate, which makes it emulsify on its own.
Glyceryl Stearate SE helps to increase moisture retention in both skin and hair by creating a barrier that prevents water loss. This is ideal in emulsified body butters, creams and lotions. Glyceryl Stearate SE is non-comedogenic so you can incorporate these in your lines dedicated to combat acneic skin, eczema, and psoriasis.
Glyceryl Stearate SE has many functions, many of which are designed to help stabilize the finished product. This includes creating a smooth blend of oils and waters, plus stabilizing that blend preventing drying or crust from developing on top. Glyceryl Stearate SE also helps preserve your product, ensuring a good, long shelf life. It is not a stand-alone preservative so you will still need to incorporate one of our natural preservatives, but it will help maintain the product over the shelf-life. Glyceryl Stearate SE can also help reduce the oily feeling some oils will impart on the skin.
Glyceryl Stearate SE can be used in conditioners and shampoos to help increase moisture and improve performance of your shampoo and conditioners. You can use this in both liquid and bar formulas. When incorporated into shampoos or conditioners it helps to increase hydration in the hair follicles, decreasing frizz. This same attribute also helps keep hair soft and prevent tangles and dryness. It will add an opaqueness to your shampoo and conditioner.
You can use Glyceryl Stearate SE in makeup and mascara formulas to help increase skin-feel, glide and hydration on the skin/hair.
